How we work with you
You do not need a complete file before your first financial conversation. Start by telling us what is happening. We then explain which information and next steps your question requires.
1. Getting to know your situation
Tell us about your plans, a change in your life or the policy you have questions about. If you already have a property in mind or a deadline is running, mention it straight away. This makes your question specific. An introductory meeting establishes the subject and possible next steps; it does not automatically confirm finance or cover.
During the free introductory meeting, we can often discuss an initial indication of your borrowing capacity. The indication we can give depends on the information available.
2. Establishing the information needed
Different subjects need different information. For a mortgage, your income, own funds and existing commitments may be relevant. For insurance, this could include the situation you want to insure and your current policy. We agree which information is needed and how you can provide it securely. The public website does not ask for payslips, identity documents, medical records or client files.
3. Agreeing the work and costs
Before an advice process begins, it should be clear what the service includes and what it costs. Read the relevant service comparison card beforehand and ask about anything you do not understand. A general card does not replace the specific agreements for your own case. Before making a decision, ask which work is included in your meeting or advice process.
4. Discussing choices and points to consider
Making a suitable choice involves more than a single interest rate, premium or monthly payment. Conditions, risks and the consequences of a change also matter. Ask what a choice would mean if your situation changes later and which information still needs to be checked. Personal advice follows from the agreed work and your information; general website text cannot provide it.
5. A clear next step
A next step might be providing further information, discussing options or submitting an application. The provider assesses an application under the applicable conditions. Agree what will happen, who will take the next action and which deadlines actually apply. This website makes no general promise about processing times.
Ready to begin? Book an appointment through the existing service or contact us directly. For reporting a claim, the existing claims service remains the appropriate route.
Digital steps in your mortgage process
You can have your advice meeting online, for example through Microsoft Teams. This keeps the personal contact with your adviser while allowing you to join from another location.
We discuss which digital steps suit your application. Where possible, we retrieve the WOZ property value digitally and use a digital valuation report, such as a desktop valuation. The valuation required depends on the property and the requirements for your application.
- Submit income and identity information digitally through Ockto.
- Establish the property value digitally where possible, using the appropriate valuation method.
- Sign documents digitally.
Personal contact and progress
At RFD, personal contact and an efficient process come first. We aim to give you a prompt personal response, arrange an appointment soon and process your documents efficiently. We discuss the timetable for your case with you; a lender's assessment has its own processing time.
